Semester 2 Final
Italian Inspired Platter
Day 1 - Greenware
Rough Idea of what I was making, Started with a thick slab that I cut into an oval and used a small loop tool to carve an indent around the inside. Sauce dish was created with a darted cup design. Underglazed platter in saffron yellow/white, underglazed dish in aquamarine/white
Day 2 - Bisqueware
Began painting the main shapes (lemons, grapes, leaves) , but I experimented by mixing the Glazes with water to try and get a thinner paint and possibly a watercolor effect once fired.
Glazes Used: Grapel, Pinkie Swear, Green Thumb, Irish Luck, Butter Me Up, Sunkissed, Rosey Posey
Day 3 - Bisqueware
Added more small detail work in black and orange (sorbet) to the leaves and fruits, along with little swirls on the yellow
Day 4 - Bisqueware
Final details of the platter- used 501 Blues to create even more small swirl details outlining the black and orange details.
Day 5 - Bisqueware
This is the inside of the sauce dish for the platter, on the outside are olives made from the same colors as inside (Emerald Isle, Clover, Candy Apple).
Finished Piece
Everything fired together, I am so happy with the ending result. The only things I might change if i were to redo this piece would be painting more laters of the orange on blue highlights so they didn't look as thin, and creating a sauce dish more proportional to the platter.
